ABOUT JESSICA LAZARO

Dr. Jessica Lazaro is a licensed mental health counselor (LH.60889640) who provides therapy to individuals of all ages in Bellevue, WA. Jessica received her Bachelor of Art’s degree in Human Services from Western Washington University. She earned her Master of Art’s degree from Antioch University Seattle in 2014. Additionally, she has a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (PsyD) from the same institution, where she completed a dissertation on mindfulness and parenting stress. Dr. Lazaro’s training has a strong social justice focus, and she welcomes clients from all backgrounds and identities in her practice. She enjoys being part of a holistic treatment team and is open to working collaboratively with other providers.

Jessica is a Pacific Northwest native who began her work in the mental health field at a community-counseling center in 2012, working with young adults and couples. Prior to clinical work, Jessica did volunteer work with veterans suffering from PTSD and TBI. She also coordinated a mentorship program for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Snohomish County. In 2013, her training broadened to include working clinically with children of varying abilities at a therapeutic day school in Mercer Island. From 2014-2018 Jessica gained additional experience working with adults, adolescents, and children in both inpatient psychiatric hospital and outpatient therapy settings. Her training at Fairfax hospital gave her experience dealing with acute crisis situations and more intense psychiatric concerns, while her practicum experience at a local group practice prepared her for dealing with the breadth of concerns she sees more regularly in private practice. Jessica’s APPIC-approved doctoral internship was completed at Ryther Child Center in Seattle, WA.

Jessica is a humanistic, client-centered therapist who enjoys depth and insight work with adult individuals. While she enjoys seeing people with a variety of concerns, some of her favorite types of issues to work with are life transitions (ex. adjusting to college, becoming a new parent), family of origin and romantic relationship struggles, depression, anxiety, and identity development. Jessica also particularly enjoys working with individuals who are in helping professions themselves (such as nursing, speech/occupational/physical therapy, or other mental health therapists/psychologists) as well as people who are starting therapy for the first time.

Jessica provides online and in-person appointments. She draws from multiple theoretical perspectives including relational, psychodynamic, and mindfulness-based interventions. Jessica is also skilled at integrating evidence-based techniques into therapy including acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), CBT, and solution-focused therapy. She enjoys long-term, moderate, and brief therapy work, depending on the unique needs of the individual.

When not working with clients, you can find Jessica spending time with friends and family, enjoying the outdoors, or taking a yoga class. In her past career, she was a make-up artist and skincare consultant. With a passion for the creative, Jessica enjoys incorporating expressive arts into therapy work when appropriate.

Dr. Jessica Lazaro is private pay only. Payment is due at the time of service. If you would like to use out-of-network insurance benefits, Jessica is happy to provide you with a detailed invoice (Superbill) to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. It is recommended you contact your insurance company directly to verify mental health benefits.
