ABOUT DR. ARIE
Miri Arie is a licensed clinical psychologist (PY.60967834) who provides psychotherapy for clients of a wide range of ages in Bellevue, Washington.

Dr. Arie enjoys working with children and adults. Her expertise includes supporting individuals in developing emotional regulation skills, social skills, overcoming anxiety, coping with rigid thinking and behaviors, and developing awareness and acceptance of their own thoughts and feelings.

Dr. Arie has expertise in helping parents develop the skills to support kids who struggle with emotional regulation, parent-child relationships, or trauma.

Dr. Arie integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) techniques with Attachment-based intervention and uses Internal Family System (IFS) intervention approach in her work. Dr. Arie is trained in Trauma-Focused CBT treatment for children (TF-CBT), and the SPACE treatment to support parents of children who struggle with Anxiety. Parents play an important collaborative role when working with children and should expect to be present in most meetings with their children (pre-adolescents).
Dr. Arie is a certified Groups Psychotherapy (CGP) specializing in group therapy. She offers groups for therapists, adults, kids, and adolescents.
Dr. Arie started her professional journey in 1997 as an undergrad with a double major in Psychology and Special Education. During her studies, she worked as an ABA (Applied Behavioral Analysis) technician for home-based intervention programs for children with Autism Spectrum disorder and never stopped working with children in the mental health field since.

Dr. Arie's master's and doctoral training were completed at Tel-Aviv University, Israel. Followed by an internship at an outpatient anxiety clinic at a major children's hospital in Israel, focusing on CBT intervention.

In 2006, Dr. Arie and her family relocated to Chicago IL, where she completed a post-doctoral research fellowship at Northwestern University followed by a clinical post-doc internship at the Pediatric Consultation Center focusing on neuropsychological testing and acquired additional training in interventions focusing on social skills development.

In 2012, Dr. Arie moved to Rochester, NY. In addition to her private practice, Dr. Arie served as an inclusion consultant to the JCC preschool and became the mental health consultant for the after-school program and the summer day camp. Understanding the expectations and the limitations of educational and recreational settings in which children function is important to me. It allows me to tailor interventions that would be applicable and relevant to settings outside the office and home. During these years Dr. Arie expanded further her interest and training in understanding and working with individuals from an Attachment-based approach and Trauma-informed therapy perspective.

Dr. Arie moved to Bellevue, WA in the summer of 2019 and is proud to be part of the CRAFT family.

THERAPY FOR CHILDREN, TEENS & FAMILIES
My approach to therapy is relational.

My practice focuses on relationships. Dr. Arie believes that emotion regulation and social interactions are crucial component in children’s development and continues to play an important role throughout the lifespan. Getting along with others can be hard. My mission is to help individuals and families deal with personal distress and facilitate growth in their relationships.

Difficulties in relationships can be traced to different roots: lack of social skills, challenges with emotional regulation, rigidity in thinking and behavior, struggles with anxiety, and many other reasons. In therapy, Dr. Arie offers guided interactions to help individuals and families address these assorted challenges in order to experience success in being together. Through guided interactions, clients develop an understanding of thoughts and feelings of themselves and the other. When this is done, within an accepting and nurturing environment, the individual can practice and develop new interactional patterns that will lead to positive feelings about oneself and successful relationships with others.

There are many paths of guided interactions to build social confidence. Sometimes we guide the parent-child relationship; Enhancing the parent-child relationship will strengthen the child’s ability to interact with peers and adults outside their families. At times our journey will start with helping an individual to develop lacking skills within the framework of individual meetings. At other times, individuals will benefit from Group Therapy. Group therapy provides a social context in which participants engage with peers while they learn about themselves and others.
I am comfortable with a variety of clinical issues that face infants, children, teens, and parents. When working with children, I generally provide a combination of individual child therapy, parent-child therapy, and parent coaching. We will decide together what will be the best fit for your child.

THERAPY WITH ADULT CLIENTS

I enjoy working with adults who struggle with anxiety and adults who are having challenges with building or maintaining meaningful relationships n their life. My approach will be tailored to the client's needs and goals in therapy. However, my communication style is curious, active, and direct. We will both be engaged in the process of exploring your strengths and identifying goals we would move toward. I find that learning about your thoughts and feelings (and their origins) is crucial toward wanted change in the present.
